Another winner. Mel was the plant guy. I always think he is still hanging around to encourage my flowers and plants. I know very little about them. I do love the word ranunculus.
I’m 100% here in my life & garden, too. My flowers are refusing to talk with me, as well. I’ve shown similar neglect. I’m hoping my flowers will show the same tenacity and resilience as your ranunculus. 😉❤️🌺
The thing about living in southern Indiana is that something is always growing in your backyard, even if it's not necessarily the thing you would like to be growing. I try to take heart from that. My neglect is the chance for all the vining things to shine.
Yes, I read on Virginia Sole-Smith's Substack recently (https://virginiasolesmith.substack.com/p/the-wedding-guest-strategy) about the wedding guest strategy. Remember you're not the bride. You're the wedding guest. No one's much paying attention to you, which can be it's own sort of gift.

A spirit gardener is nice! Ranunculus is a good word. Sounds a bit naughty.

“We assume the world is against us when the truth is, the world just doesn’t care. It’s not about us at all.”
Ooof, what a great reminder that everyone else is too busy being hypercritical of themselves than to be hypercritical of anything we’re doing.
