So if you are a mom in Kansas who owns a daycare, make the story of David and Goliath take place in the daycare.
He did this type of merging for his first novel and it actually did win all kinds of prizes.

Gotta start somewhere. Read a lot. Write a lot. Rinse. Repeat. Writing is a subtle craft; it always looks much easier than it actually is to do.
