(I reread Animal Dreams and Pigs in Heaven recently and remembered how influential these books were on my early writing life!) Oh, I should reread those two. I have such vivid memories of reading them when I was younger and being so excited to see characters from Kentucky. At the time, a friend was going to graduate school at University of Arizona and so I spent some time in Tucson. I was like, me and Barbara Kingsolver are living parallel lives! I think my favorite, weirdly enough, is Prodigal Summer. Of course, Demon Copperhead was stunning.
