An essay of summer bounty
I love this love letter to your mother. It makes me miss mine. More acutely than usual.
Thanks, Kate.
Eggplant: Haha, you’re going to drop some and winter’s coming!
Corn: Oh man, summer is great! Don’t you love fresh corn?
Beets: ELDRITCH HORROR STORY
Tomatoes: Call your mom, she loves you.
What a ride!
Thanks!
Loved this. Good memories and tears. I'm an orphan now, of course, but I still miss my mom.
And my Dad. He helped with canning, at least with the heavy lifting and cutting off corn.
Thanks, Sandy. Cutting off the corn is definitely at least a two-person job. My mom freezes it as creamed corn and it makes the best corn pudding ever in the winter.
