Ugh. Gutted....I was on a mini holiday at the coast yesterday and my husband texted me the news. Still grappling with it. I can relate to her in many ways...she was such a precious human. 🖤✨😥
It was probably a decade before I knew that her signature was a cover. It takes a LOT of force to take a song from Prince, but Nothing Compares 2 U is undeniably a Sinéad O’Connor song.
Similarly to your main point, I used to sneak out of bed on Saturdays to watch SNL at my dad’s so had the experience of watching her tear that picture of the pope into tiny pieces.
I wasn’t sure of details, obviously; I was only 13 and not yet aware of the horrors she was protesting against (or the music of Bob Marley for that matter). But from the look in her eyes and the deafening silence from the audience I knew something huge had just happened.
Left an indelible mark on my childhood and I’m so glad I got to experience that first hand.
Loved this. Thanks.
You're welcome!
I also loved this. That album was something I think I took for granted, as what artists just do.
It is just what artists do and also so amazing. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Of course you saw it live on SNL. Is there an episode you've ever missed?
I've heard Prince's version. It's lovely. It was definitely Sinead's song.
