Such a fun thing! Last year, I read and absolutely loved two small press books: THE SHAME by Makenna Goodman (Milkweed Editions) and QUOTIDIAN by Mary Wilkinson (Reflex Press). I would also suggest two by Marina Benjamin, MIDDLEPAUSE and INSOMNIA (both by Catapult). Oh, and DEAR EDNA SLOANE by Amy Shearn (Red Hen Press). I'm sure I'll think of more, this is right up my alley. Thanks for the prompt, happy new year!

Also, I did read THE SHAME. It was excellent and there’s another book by a small press I read!

Here's a book I recommend every chance I get: "there was an old woman," by Andrea Carlisle from Oregon State University. It isn't fiction, it's a collection of essays on a single topic, and one every woman should read, imo. Beautifully written, down to earth, and life changing for some women.

Love this goal! Some recs; Blue Light Hours, You Can't Kill Us Until They Kill Us (Two Dollar Radio, essays), Village Weavers (although I've read raves about all her books so can't go wrong with in), The Incredible Shrinking Woman (essays). Tidal Waters and Elena Knows (both Charco Press), Brothers&Ghosts (Scribe), Company (Graywolf) and any of Percivel Everett's earlier works since he stayed with Graywolf until James.
